This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious construction, engineering, management or information systems graduate to fast-track their career development as a Business Information Management Associate – in the construction sector. The project will provide the successful candidate with the opportunity to deal with issues of information management, procurement and performance measurement with a small company in construction. The successful candidate will also be eligible to register for a research degree.  Your interests should include information management, the development of Key Performance Indicators (economic and social) and business system designs. The successful candidate will undertake a 2-year collaborative project between B4Box Limited, a leading construction company and the University of Salford. Primarily based in B4Box premises in Salford, you will take a leading role in capturing the company's highly successful business model, develop and replicate the model to new clients and lead in the development of a new approach to construction - linking government investment in capital projects with training. 

As KTP Associate, the successful candidate will receive extensive practical and formal training, gain highly desirable specialist performance management skills, broaden knowledge and expertise within an industrially relevant project, and gain valuable experience from commercial and academic mentors. You will benefit from a Personal Development Budget of £4,000 and will have the opportunity to register free of charge for a postgraduate research qualification. 

Skills required: Candidates should possess (or be near completion of) an Honours degree in construction, engineering, management/social science or information systems or a strongly-related discipline at 1st or 2.1 standards. T he candidate should be self-motivated with an ability to work independently and to tight deadlines within a dynamic and small team environment. In addition, s/he must have a genuine enthusiasm for developing advanced information systems solutions to real-world problems. Some knowledge and understanding of information system development and/or programme languages would be desirable. Team working and flexibility will be a key requirement.

 ARCHITECTURAL ASSISTANT 

Penn Design is a small architectural practice based in Beaconsfield. We work on a range of residential projects from small extensions to new-builds. 

We currently have a vacancy for a Part One/Two Architectural Assistant with at least one year's working experience. The initial appointment is a temporary role for 2-3 months during the summer. However, there is the possibility this could be extended or converted to a permanent role. 

Required Skills: 

- Proficient in AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, and Sketchup 

- Enthusiasm for detailed design 

- Good practical sense 

- Ability to work on own initiative 

- Strong attention to detail 

- Experience of Construction detailing 

- Working experience of UK Building Regulations. Salary will be dependent upon level of qualification, skills, and previous experience.

Our workload is varied, consisting of private sector and social housing, master planning, retail, education, industrial/ commercial, landscaping,

The practice has three directors and a small team in support. It is innovative, works nationally and has a commitment to achieving excellence. It is a multi award winning practice. It has a sound experience in alternative energy/technology. Since its beginnings in 1985, Bower Mattin has had a successful training record for students leading to Part 3. The successful applicant will potentially be exposed to a wide range of public sector and private sector clients. The learning curve can be steep but for an articulate, clear thinking student the educational rewards are better than joining larger practices where they may become a cog in the wheel. During the year the student will receive sound experience at all stages from A to L. We also link with a local contractors to expose students to supplementary site experience if required.

Salaries will be competitive depending on experience and ability.

Students who are articulate, well presented and with a first or 2:1 will be given preference.

Part I Placement - Methodic Practice

PART 1 Placement

A small design focused practice based in London is in need of a part 1 architectural assistant to join their team. Methodic Practice is a creative multidiscipline practice working on a number of fascinating architectural and landscape projects from our office in Clapham. 

The part 1 assistant will be working on a range of exciting projects so you must have a creative eye for design and have strong presentation skills. It is essential that the part 1 architectural assistant is confident at using Vectorworks and Adobe Suite. It is beneficial if the part 1 assistant has an understanding of Sketchup and Mac computers but this is not essential. Position available July 2012.
